about US

I’m Eva, I became completely deaf at age 2 from a meningitis and I got my first “bionic” ear in 1994 at age 10 with a Cochlear Nucleus Spectra 22 cochlear implant. Then, in 2012 I decided one ear wasn’t enough and overcame my fear of failure and did it again, so now I’ve got bilateral bionic ears – proudly representing Australia with cochlear chips. From the day I lost my hearing, I’ve grown up using French cued speech (LfPC)..

Uma is a smooth collie in training to become my hearing dog, she’s just started on her journey. We are training with a French nonprofit organisation who provide us with general follow-up, and we are doing individual training with a canine educator with a special interest in ethology.

I like water and my secret wish is that one day I could ride with Uma on my kiteboard and she would alert me from other riders that I don’t see!
